YOUR INSPECTOR

Picture
Certified Residential Thermographer
There are approximately only 600 inspectors in the entire country certified as a Residential Thermographer, and I am one of those select few. The reason I became a CRT is to help me be the best inspector for YOU. Take a look at the pictures to the right (both taken with the equipment I use). The top picture shows a seemingly perfect bedroom floor, but the infrared picture below it shows a potentially severe water problem. Without a CRT and the proper equipment, this problem would never have been seen in an inspection. This would have been an unexpected, and costly, expense for the buyer. Fortunately, the buyer was made aware of this problem and had the proper information in making his purchase decision. This service we provide also helps in inspecting issues concerning  insulation/heat-loss, plumbing issues and potential electrical problems.

My name is Lester Ottenwalder and I own Eagle Home Inspections L.L.C.. I helped my father build a house and continued to work on many home maintenance and renovation projects when I was a boy. I enlisted into the US Air force and later into the US Air National Guard, I am now a retired SMSGT. While in the USANG and working a full time Job I went to night school where I received a degree in mechanical engineering & management. While working a full time job, I started a part time construction & renovation business. I have built new houses from the ground up including: installing underground plumbing, electrical HVAC, framing walls, roofs etc. I also have done numerous renovation and restoration projects. I inspected residential and commercial buildings in Michigan, Pennsylvania & New York for over 25 years.

Today, I am a full-time (AHIT) American Home Inspectors Training Institute certified home inspector. I am also a chapter member of the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI) and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). I attend monthly meetings to stay current on the latest industry standards and I travel to other states to attend seminars on related topics to homes. When I am not inspecting, you can generally find me doing my own building or restoration project. I have personally restored and built homes over the years. The knowledge I have can only be gained through years of hands-on experience taking old houses apart and putting them back together better then they were.
